In the Farm Shop this week…

A right Royal knees-up

Forty Hill got well and truly into the festival spirit on Monday as the community came together for our Big Jubilee Lunch.

Thanks to a fantastic effort from all the event organisers, we just about had enough chairs for the 600 people who sat down to eat beneath the bunting. Thanks go to all the local schools and community centres that lent us their chairs and tables!

As the afternoon went on, our purpose built stage hosted a wealth of local talent. Story-teller Pauline Collins kept both children and adults enthralled with her puppetry, while budding barbershop quarter The B-Flats provided the perfect soundtrack to the picnic.

As if this wasn’t enough, stars as young as three flaunted their singing and acting skills in our very own ‘Forty’s Got Talent’, the crowds cheered the children’s fancy dress parade, and local knowledge was tested in the Forty Hall pub quiz.

As the sun set (having finally appeared from behind the clouds), a stellar line-up of local bands brought rock and roll to the barn and jivers to the dance floor!

You can see some of our photos from the event on our flickr page.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a wonderful success, particularly stage-builder and organiser extraordinaire Leon Wilkins and Jill Simpson from the Village Wholefood Shop.
