Thousands brave the rain for Easter Lambing

A huge thank you to everyone that came along to our Easter Lambing open days last week. We had over 2000 visitors over the two days, despite the terrible wet and windy weather.

Visitors enjoyed sheep-shearing demonstrations, had a go at tree-climbing, learnt how to make charcoal and had a chance to test their milking skills with our very own (wooden) milking cow. Our big barn was also transformed into a food hall, full of stalls selling local food and drink. It wasn’t quite the weather for enjoying the chilled ales and cider offered by Hop Box but sales of tea and cake were roaring!

As if all this wasn’t enough, we also welcomed a surprise new arrival on Monday morning – a late lamb that none of us expected. She obviously wanted to wait until she had an audience.

Thank you to everyone that helped to make the open days such a success, particularly to all our stall holders and the staff and students of Capel.
